Getting to Tongeren

The Gallo-Roman Museum is in Tongeren, the oldest city in the country. And it’s closer than you think! Did you know that it is only an hour’s drive from Antwerp, Brussels and Aachen? And from Hasselt, Liège and Maastricht you’ll be here in 30 minutes. The GPS coordinates are: N 50°46’52.74" – E 5°27’59.10"

The museum is also easy to reach by train. Tongeren is a stop on the Antwerp – Hasselt – Liège line. If you’re coming from Brussels, you’ll be here in 1,5 to 2 hours, travelling via Hasselt or Liège. The station is walking distance from the museum. When you buy your rail ticket, don’t forget to ask about B Day Trips.

In Tongeren

The museum is located in the heart of the city, in the shadow of the Basilica of Our Lady. You can’t miss it! We suggest you park in the ‘De Motten’ car park (free) or in the ‘Romana’ or ‘Julianus’. car park (free) or in the ‘De Motten’ car park or at Sint-Truiderpoort.

On May 17., because of the “Ronde van Limburg”, the center of the city will be closed for cars. You can park your car on the outside of the center.
